David Breuer-Weil
b. 1965, British
See the art by this Artist »
Born in London in 1965, Breuer-Weil studied painting and sculpture at the Central Saint Martin’s School of Art and gained his degrees from Clare College, Cambridge. He is now recognised as one of the greatest and most inventive figurative painters to emerge in the second generation since the School of London. His work is to be found in many collections both in England and abroad and has a strong presence on the secondary market. Described by Times art critic John Russell Taylor as a “colossal talent”, Breuer-Weil has executed a series of monumental paintings symbolic of the trials and tribulations of modern life titled “The project” which now numbers over 150 vast canvases and is undoubtedly one of the artistic monuments of the age:

It is difficult to think of any series of contemporary British paintings more ambitious in scale and content than Breuer-Weil’s Project” (The Times).

Breuer-Weil's most recent exhibition, ‘The Vogue Landscapes,’ was held at Alon Zakaim Fine Art in July 2008. In these works Breuer-Weil experiments with new media in two and three dimensions to produce landscape paintings based on the artist's own palette. The works reflect the artist’s vivid exploration of the beauty of pure light and colour.
