This work will be included in the forthcoming catalogue raisonné currently being prepared by Marie-Anne Destrebecq-Martin.

Using thickly-applied oils, the artist renders a sun-drenched scene with a pointillist technique. Martin-Ferrières communicates the golden-hour tableau with tightly-knit dots of paint in the upper register, and elongates his strokes horizontally in the lower half to cleverly communicate reflection. The artist, who is the son of Henri Martin, was practicing after the Post-Impressionists with an eye for detail that he used to render picturesque landscapes and still lifes.
