Sir Hubert von Herkomer Charity Exhibition

5 April 2017

Alon Zakaim Fine Art are delighted to announce a collaborative exhibition of iconic portraits in support of The Sir Hubert von Herkomer Arts Foundation.

A distinguished painter, playwright, actor, composer and film director, the late Sir Hubert von Herkomer left an impression on many including Charles Dickens, Queen Victoria and Vincent van Gogh who acknowledged him as an inspiration.

Sir Hubert believed that every individual should have the chance to pick up a paint brush, play an instrument or perform on stage. Through his status and personal wealth he continually sought to help the disadvantaged by providing them with a gateway to the arts.

The 2011 riots highlighted a new generation of troubled youngsters. In response, Mark von Herkomer (Sir Hubert's great grandson) and Debbi Clark set out to create a charitable vehicle that celebrated the spirit of Sir Hubert by offering young people an entry point into the arts, with 'after school arts courses' at its heart.

Featuring works by the likes of Debbi Clark, Banksy, Rankin, Terry O'Neill, Chris Smith, Iain McKell, Lorenzo Agius, this charity exhibition will raise funds for the Foundation, who aim to provide inspirational art courses for underprivileged children.

The upstairs gallery will feature artworks produced by the children that have been gifted by the Foundation's course.
